We dined in the restaurant and found the food very good, the only thing I would say is that the portions very huge !! and that is not a bad thing. Overall we had a lovely weekend and will be again soon !”

“I always love this hotel for it's location but I was disappointed to be sent to the bar to have breakfast. My daughter and I were in the dining room just after 10 but as we were late the waitress put us in the bar for breakfast. Breakfast was just alright.”

“Poor, very small bed, stained sheet (not discovered until the next morning). No working plug in bathroom sink, toilet very badly stained and seat broken. Will say the Owner was very welcoming and friendly on arrival, but never saw her again. Didn't bother staying for breakfast the next morning.”

“Like most 4 stars in Ireland for my standard this is not a four stars but a 3 stars. The staff are nice and very helpful. No amenities on site for children. They cater for vegetarian. We stayed on room 208 and it's was a nice and bright room.”

“Staff were, very friendly & helpful. The breakfast menu was excellent. The room very clean & comfortable. We felt that it was too far from the centre of Galway,(approx 40 mins walk). Some of the taxi drivers were inclined to overcharge - the fare should be between â‚¬8 - â‚¬10. However there is a bus service available with a stop close to the hotel which will bring you to Eyre Square. Overall opinion very good hotel but our prefernce would be for a more central location. Food was georgous, had dinner in restaurant, steaks were super but what I love most about this hotel is the breakfast, I have to say that they give the best hotel breakfast, great variety of fruits , cereals and pasteries. “I had a short stay but it was a fantastic experience. Staff very helpful, corteous, friendly but at the same time very professional. I phoned hotel day in advance to seek possibility of an earlier check in (nearly 3 hours earlier than usual) due to my engagements in Galway and I was told they see what it could be done. When I arrived at hotel, very early, my room was ready! Did not avail of restaurant and bar facilities but food quality at breakfast was of a very good standard and service was first class. Rooms were also of a very high standard, clean and spacious and also lots of choice of TV channels and free WI-FI throughout the hotel. Will definitely return to the Westwood Hotel for my next stay in Galway and recommend anyone looking for a place to stay near city centre to do the same.”

“Spent 1 night of the St. Patrick's weekend in the Westwood. It was a most enjoyable stay and even though there seemed to be a large wedding that night the service all around was very good. We were upgraded to a superior room on arrival, which was very comfortable. Breakfast was very enjoyable also we would have liked to avail of the dinner also but were unable due to prior arrangements. Certainly would have no hesitation in returning / recommending it.”

“This is a good hotel but I question its 4 star rating. If you do Lild breaks you get a basic room - without bathrobe, bottled water and good quality coffee. In my experience with a 4 star hotel one should'nt have to pay for room service. The quality of food in the bar is good but not great. Its pretty standard pub grup.”

“Very relaxing break away. Spent 3 nights over the mid term with our 8 year old. Hotel was very busy which was good to see. We had to queue for breakfast for a few minutes, which was no problem. The buffet selection was good and the hot breakfast was very tasty with good quality sausages rashers etc... The hotel is well situated for travelling into Connemara without dealing with the city traffic. Staff were very pleasant. Evening meals which we had on the three nights were of a very good standard for a hotel. The steak was as good as I've had in a long while, had it on two nights, requested medium rare and got it medium rare, wife asked for medium and again was spot on. There was an excellent selection of pay movies for â‚¬5, all new dvd releases in the room. The bed, breakfast and dinner option represent excellent value. Have used similar hotel deal websites and this hotel is head and shoulders above them.”

Whilst this hotel is a little outside the city centre, if you are looking for a genuine four star hotel, with all the home comforts then the Westwood is the hotel for you. Rooms very big, bathroom with traditional big sink and pull chain toilet, all added to the charm of this hotel. Had dinner in the restaurant and was plesantly surprised. The cooked breakfast was cooked per order and fantastic. Only critism of the dining experience in the hotel is that the portions were huge. Overall lovely night and will stay the again. Great value fom Lidl breaks.”

“Stayed 2 nights B&B, Interconnecting doors between rooms not locked and a small child arrived in our room soon after check in- had a drink in bar on friday night, smell of sewerage in the place was terrible, left after 10mins. Rooms fine, shower wasnt great tho. Nice location. Adequate for deal we got but would not like to be paying full price”

“My husband, two young children and I stayed for one night at Easter in the Westwood hotel and found everything about the hotel, from the friendlieness of the staff, to the comfort and the decor of the room as well as the quality of the food to be first class. Our child really enjoyed playing in the hotel's playroom which was very well equipped with toys to occupy babies right through to older children. When we went to our room we found two handmade Easter eggs waiting for us and the children received a gift each for Easter at diiner! It was by far the best standard of hotel we have visited on a Lidl break and we look forward to returning again on our next visit to Galway.”

Our receptionist (Chloe, I think!) was very friendly and helpful . Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable with a beautiful old style en- suite. The food in the restaurant was excellent- tasty, plentiful and well presented with a great menu available. Staff here were also very helpful, efficient and friendly. Overall I thought this an exceptional hotel and represented superb value for money with the lidl breaks. We will continue to use the lidl breaks and have recommended them to friends and family. “My husband and myself are just back from a wonderful break at The Westwood Hotel in Galway, we have stayed at the Westwood on another occasion in the past for a weekend, but decided to book it on this occasion through tle lidl breaks, as we were only on a short business trip. I was a little worried, that because it was a Lidl break that the quality of our room or the food might be compremised, but thankfully this was not the case. When we presented at check in, the staff greeted us courtiously. check in was smooth. We were given room 125, which we were happy with. The one night break we booked included dinner, this was the reason we returned to this hotel, because on our last break there, the food was fantastic. Both my husband and myself were happy when we saw that just because we were on a Lidl break the menu selection was not cut, some of the dishes carried a suppliment, which you would expect. We had a wonderful dinner, and breakfast next morning was as good as ever. I would like to take this oppertunity to thank all the staff at The Westwood Hotel, for a lovely stay, and look forward to returning for a longer stay next time. Date of stay, Sunday 20th of Feburary.”

“Four adults stayed in hotel for 2 nights bed and breakfast, rooms were spacious and clean, and very warm which is a welcome change ! We arrived down at the main bar to an off smell in one area of it, the bar itself could do with a bit of a revamp as could its residents bar, which meant that after closing hours we had to order drinks to our room and drink them there ? ... Breakfast was included in our break and was made to order which meant it was very tasty and a great choice of breakfasts and there was ample cereals / juices / fruits/ pastries to keep us going until it arrived. Note breakfast will take a little longer as it is made to order but totally worth it. Overall an enjoyable stay in the hotel and fantastic value”

“I stayed in the Westwood hotel with my husband and 2 year old son in September 2010. I would highly reccommend this hotel. Our room was well laid out, spacious, bright and comfortable (the beds are a bit hard though). The food both for breakfast and the bar food was excellant. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. Location wise its a fair distance from the city centre but that didn't bother us as we had a car. We usually stay in the city when we visit Galway, but I think the Westwood will be first on our list from now on.”

“We stayed in the Westwood hotel on a Saturday night and would highly recommend this hotel, the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was lovely and spaceous. Robes and slippers are provided for comfort which is a nice touch. We ate food in the bar the day we arrived and it was delicious, the seafodd chowder was especially good. Breakfast the following morning was great with an excellent choice of cold and hot food - cooked to order. Normal checkout was 12.30 but we were allowed to stay on til 2pm so we under no pressure to get checked out. I will definitely return to this hotel.”

The hotel didnt have a leisure centre which was a bit of a shame (knew that before we arrived), but would certrainly stay again. They organised activities for the kids and an easter egg hunt and colouring competition. Great stay. Rooms clean, fresh and airy.”

“I always love this hotel for it's location but I was disappointed to be sent to the bar to have breakfast. My daughter and I were in the dining room just after 10 but as we were late the waitress put us in the bar for breakfast. Breakfast was just alright.”
