“The staff at the Four Seasons Hotel were excellent. The room was lovely and quiet with a good senic view. We had lovely breakfasts and the Bar was great at night . We stayed mid-week (late October) . the hotel was not packed and we did not visit the Leisure Centre.”

“The Hotel was bright and clean throughout. The bedrooms, beds were nice and comfortable. We had dinner in the bar and the food was good, as no one seemed to be dining in the restaurant the night we were there. Breakfast was good and had a great selection to choose from. The staff were friendly.The only negitives, we were given a room facing the back onto an oil tank even though the hotel wasn't busy...they missed a chance to be an A+ hotel. Also there is a charge of â‚¬50 to add a 3rd adult to a room, where Lidl's offer is â‚¬39.90pp, and we were given a room with a double & a single bed and not a 3 bed room.”

The bar food was of a very high standard ....far better than I would have expected from a hotel bar. Lovely smiling, friendly staff and we had a great room with a walk-in shower so I would certainly class this hotel as better than a three star category.”

“Loved our stay in the Four Seasons Hotel Carlingford. The pool, sauna, steam room and gym all stay open late which was ideal for us. The location of the hotel is perfect as it is less than a 5 minute walk to the centre of Carlingford. All the staff, especially the ones serving breakfast and at the swimming pool, were super helpful and friendly! Cannot recommend this place enough if you want to stay in County Louth.”

“My husband and I had a most enjoyable 3 night stay in the four seasons Carlingford just a few days ago. We got a very warm welcome at reception on our arrival and our waiter in the dining room for dinner was the most welcome, helpful, cheerful, charming waiter we ever met despite the fact he was working with a splinted, broken thumb. Dinner was delicious and very nicely presented with a good choice on the menu. Staff at breakfast were cheerful and helpful each morning where there was an adequate selection of dood on offer. Our bed was very comfortable, room was clean and warm as was bathroom. Highly recommended and very good value.”

“Stayed here on a 2night plus one dinner package break. After booking it I read some poor reviews on the hotel and was a bit apprehensive about the trip. I was pleasantly surprised to find everything was lovely. The room was clean and bright and the bathroom was spotless. Breakfasts and dinner were good. I had no fault to find with it. It is centrally located to the town and local walking trails.”

“If looking for a quiet night away then this is the place but not for me, room was very clean no complaints there. The bar dÃ©cor needs updating carpet grubby as was chairs. We were booked in for B&B&Dinner, the menu was limited 3 starters to choose from, I had soup it was that hot and thick(like concrete) that I had to add cold water from jug to enjoy it, my husband had pork belly he said he never tasted anything so bad, the veg were blasted in microwave. We complained to the waiter about quality of food but nothing came about it. Decided to have a drink in bar lacking atmosphere even if there was piped music playing throughout wouldn't be too bad. Breakfast was the norm improvement of evening before. Would I recommend Four Seasons no, needs to review there menu for package deals(different menu if paying for dinner separate not through package deal). Carlingford itself is lovely to walk about and Newry not too far to drive too.”

The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The leisure facilities were excellent also .The location of the hotel is fantastic being near shops and pubs and views were amazing. I could not fault the hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a short break in a great location. Hope to go back soon.”

“The web-site "today fm breaks .com" was very easy to use, are stay in the hotel was for a wedding anniversary. The fact that we got an up-grade made the stay even more enjoyable, breakfast was good, leisure facilities were fine and the hotel overall had a nice warm feel to it. only stayed for one night so cant really make that much of a judgement, though my wife and i enjoyed the time in Carlingford, this was definately helped by decent accomadition. cheers.”

“I had a nice one night stay in Four Seasons on 15th Sept. Was a wet and windy day on arrival but once inside Catherine at reception Had all under control and I was able to go to room despite it only being about 1 o'clock. Room was grand for me but toilet and shower were for handicapped people which didnt bother me.. Hotel was still lively from wedding the night before. Thankfully the weather improved and I was able to explore the nooks and crannys of Carlingford. Slept well and had a lovely breakfast next morning thanks to friendly staff and layout of room. As is usual as a solo traveller I still had to pay for a double room. Haven't stayed in a hotel yet that will give you a single rate but I live in hope. All in all a nice hotel to visit. “Great location on the outskirts of the town, however the signage needs to be improved, we nearly passed it the first time. The room was nice and the bed comfy, but the TV was Cr*p!!!!! It was discoloured and not all the channels worked. The wifi was ok but I would have preferred an ethernet connection in the room. If we hadn't had the laptop the TV would have led to us complaining. The shower and bathroom were grand but beware there is no plug for an electric razor, so bring an adaptor. the bar was nice and beside the restaurant, nice selection of drinks including the locally produced whiskey. The food was excellent and nicely served and presented. Breakfast was nice also and all staff are very friendly. The pool, jacuzzi and steam room were nice and clean and enjoyable to visit. The wet kit bags were a nice touch, other hotel pools need to provide same. The garden outside the bar/restaurant had a nice lawn and water feature plus smoking area. There was small bit of confusion when we booked in and checked out regarding the inclusive meals so ensure you have a print out or text showing your tariff. Also during our second night the fire alarm went off at four in the morning. This was a guests fault smoking in the corridor, but it took a very long time to turn off the alarm. The hotel were not at fault however for the initial alarm. Nice location and good facilities, I would recommend it.”

“Room comfy and large but curtains too let too much light in. Exercise class / loud music on the grass outside my window before 10am so if you're looking to sleep late... Fresh fruit available for breakfast - breakfast generally okay - coffee not fantastic. Didn't use the leisure facilities. Staff helpful. Dinner was good but my friend had the vegetarian option which wasn't. Bar staff very slow. Beautiful location overlooking the water. Overall a pleasant experience and good value for what I paid.”

“Very dissapointed to enter our room to see the shape on the bed were some was obviously sitting after the bed had been made. Worse was to come. The toilet had been used and left unflushed. Disgusting. Bits of broken clear plastic on the floor which I thought was glass at first. After the shock of the room we had dinner which was nice but was spoilt by other guests shouting and roaring and staff didnt seem to ask them to keep it down. The bar was pleasent. Staff were polite and friendly. Breakfast was ok but the orange juice tasted like it was watered down. The hotel just needs to shake itself a little and all would be fine.”

The barman started to hoover the bar about an hour before closing had to waite for service every time we need a drink even though we were the only one in the bar. “My fiance and I stayed for two nights in The Four Seasons. The staff on reception and at the bar were friendly and courteous. There were a number of occasions however where the bar was left unattended and we were left waiting for lengthy periods to be served. The room we stayed in was clean and well ventilated. We were however woken by what sounded like a very loud extractor fan at around 4am,this occured both mornings and persisted until we got up. The sound came from a vent in the bathroom. The leisure centre facilities were quite good. And finally the food,we had breakfast both mornings. The quality of the food was mediocre,the breakfast staff however were extremely friendly and helpful. All in all we had quite a pleasant stay.”

“The Hotel is far more impressive on the outside than inside. We stayed on a Thursday and Friday night in June and both nights the restaurant and bar were extremely quiet. The Hotel is very close to the town which is beautiful but was also quiet. It appears that Carlingford only livens up on a Saturday night. However the Hotel was great value for money and I would definitely book with Lidl breaks again.”

Only negative comment and reason for not giving it five stars was the construction work which went on from 9am in the room above us both mornings was a bit annoying. We have recommended Lidl hotel breaks to both Family & friends. My Husband & I love Carlingford and have stayed at the Four Seasons Hotel, Carlingford, before. The hotel is ideally suitated and is within walking distance to the lovely town. It is a new, clean hotel with friendly staff. The bar staff and night staff are very friendly. We have eaten breakfast on our stays and could not find any complaint. There is a great selection for breakfast, so you will not go hungry. The bedrooms are quite big, clean and comfortable. Carlingford is a lovely friendly town and you are made so welcome by the locals. A must is "McGees Restaurant". This is just the nicest fish restaurant (meat selection also) with a great seleciton of both food & wine. It is a busy restaurant and you never feel you have to rush to allow another setting. We have eaten her on numerous occasions & will definately come back again & again. We would definatley recommend booking your break through Lidl, staying in The Four Seasons Hotel, Carlingford & eating in 'McGees'. Enjoy”

“The hotel was a little disapointing. The forst impression of the hotel was cold. We waited for almost 10 minutes befire we were greeted and then checked in. The room was fine. Clean basic but fine. We had booked a meal in the hotel restuarant and we were seated in a very cold part of the restaurant. When we asked to move we were looked at as if we had ten heads. The food was very poor and was served within 3 minutes of ordering. It was very obviously preprepared and left in a fridge all day. The main meal my wife did not eat as it was very very poor. My main meal was ok. The staff in the bar were very friendly and apart from the restaurant and reception I would say the staff are very good. I have booked three hotels in Lidl to date and I have always found them to be excellent value.”

“Great hotel, fantastic value. Went for a one nights Dinner Bed and Breakfast stay over Valentines weekend. Food was amazing at dinner and breakfast. The town in a stones throw which is full of great little bars, plenty to choose from. The room was quite big with everything you would need in a hotel room. The only negative thing i could say was that i could hear people running around in the room above us, which woke me up. It was quite loud and went all all morning, but that was more the guests above us to fault rather than the hotel. All in all, I'll definitely stay again.”

“* My Husband & I stayed in the 'Four Sesons' Carlingford last week (July 2010). Our room was looking out at the sea & harbour, the view was beautiful. The Reception staff were friendly & the night staff were very friendly particularly the night bar man & the Manager, they were very chatty & witty. The hotel is litterally as it said 1minute walking distance from Carlingford. 'Magees Restaurant' is just the most gorgeous Fish Restaurant, it is definatly a must on your stay in Carlingford.”

“My mother and I had a very pleasant stay in the Four Seasons Hotel in Carlingford. When we arrived we were given a room with twin beds, but when I explained that my mother would be more comfortable in a double bed we were given a room with a double and single bed. The staff were very nice and the food was good. The hotel setting is ideal, with the sea on one side and the mountain on the other, with a nice garden with waterfall and seating overlooking the mountain. The price for three nights B/B at %u20AC35 p.p. was very good value. I would rate it 4 star.”

“Set in a beautiful location and just minutes from the village centre. Rooms very spacious and comfortable. Bar & restaurant very good and staff very courteous and welcoming. An ideal spot to relax & unwind. Beautiful pool & Gym in the hotel and for the outdoor types, plenty of walks etc. and plenty of fresh air! Will definately be returning soon!”

“Hotel was fine. Spacious bedroom, comfortable bed, good bed linen, good size bathroom. All very clean, but sparse on toiletries. Good breakfast and service. Not to be confused with the 5 Star 4 Seasons but good value for money. Because of the leisure centre you might have to park a bit away from the hotel. ”

“The staff at the Four Seasons Hotel were excellent. The room was lovely and quiet with a good senic view. We had lovely breakfasts and the Bar was great at night . We stayed mid-week (late October) . the hotel was not packed and we did not visit the Leisure Centre.”
