“paid extra 15 for evening meal menu had only 3 choices picked fish and chips the fish was similar to donegal catch supermarket type it was over cooked dry and bread crumbs were brittle sucked it up as did not need grief, went to bar at night the gents toilets were out of order had to go to room on 4th floor to use our toilet.”

“The room was large, clean and very comfy bed. The bathroom was lovely with a great shower. Dinner was not great I got the chicken linguine and it was bland and the chicken was chewy, got banoffee pie for dessert and it was not great no biscuit base. I did complain but I was still charged for the meal. Breakfast was a lot nicer. It was also very cold in the bar.”

Breakfast also excellent with a wide variety of choice. Hotel is in good location with only a 10 minute walk from attractions such as the Viking triangle and Waterford Crystal visitor centre. Would recommend it to anyone visiiting the area.”

“This is our second time to stay at the Marina Hotel and must say Staff are very friendly and helpful and pleasant. There was only one issue with our room. We stayed in room 101 and there was only one side of the bed with a plug. I needed to charge my phone and people like to sleep on a certain side of the bed and it so happened that my husband wanted to sleep at the same side as the plug, leave me no plug. A charging point could be even put in the headboard.”

When you entered for breakfast it was a nice welcome. It was busy but not fussy. I will be going there again when in Waterford.”

All the staff were so friendly. The card, chocolates and drink given to him was very much appreciated.A lovely thoughtful gesture. We would definitely recommend and hope to stay again in the future. Although there was renovations been done it did not interfere with our stay. Thank you all so much.”

Friendly staff and clean and comfortable rooms many with a river view. The food is tasty and prices are on a par with most restaurants in the area. Customer service was very high, the room was really lovely (yes the hotel could do with some renovation which I believe is planned) but beds were comfortable, shower had a strong flow and water was warm etc. Breakfast was lovely, decent variety on offer, full hot Irish breakfast along with all the cold options of any buffet. The staff everywhere could not have been nicer at all, reception staff, bar staff, lounge staff and room staff - definitely return based on the experience provided, hotel situated overlooking the river and five minute walk into the city centre, couldn't have been better. The room was a very good size and was very clean and had a safe etc. The staff were all very professional - the chap that checked us in (don't know his name) was very friendly and welcoming. This member of staff and other managers said hello, asked how we were etc. when they met us. Breakfast had a good selection, the bar food was also very good and the bar also overlooks the river. Would definitely stay here again. The free underground secure car park is also beneficial - just press the intercom to gain access - (don't drive up the ramp to the higher car park as this is not belonging to the hotel).”

There was no water bottles provided in the room and when we asked abt it they said that tap water is ok to drink. “We were delighted with this break. It was a little tricky trying to find it as it was behind other buildings but a great location for the city. The hotel had their own parking which was great. Staff were really friendly and knowledgeable. I'm wheat intolerant and they double checked everything for me. There was a nice spread for breakfast and dinner. Their peppercorn sauce is the nicest I have ever tasted! The dining room is a bit draughty especially at the windows. Breakfast on the Sunday was busy and eveybody's toast was slightly burnt at the edges. The room was comfortable, double and a single bed, dresser, coffee maker, tv, table and chairs etc. The decor looks a bit dated and there is a smell of air freshner in the corridors but you get used to that. Shower was grand and hot and it was lovely to have the option of running a bath. It is a bit dark around the area of the hotel so I wouldn't be walking alone. We would definitely recommend a room looking out over water.”

“The hotel is pretty basic but has all you need and only 5-10 mins walk from main shopping area, although there is many other things close by e.g waterford cyrstal, pubs etc. unfortunately there was a slight smell in the room but that was caused by the river when the tide was out. I would reccommend this hotel it was clean, food was beautiful, staff extremely friendly and helpful. Parking facility is great underground secure carpark no extra charge. Will definately stay again if looking to get away for a night.”

From the moment we walked in, it was lovely, we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist, and although there was a problem with the key card, the staff couldnt have been more helpful. The room was just like the picture on the website - spotless white bed linen and immaculate towels. Food was fabulous! So handy to the town centre and a lovely river view. Secure locked parking too. Absolutly no complaints what so ever and wouldnt hesitate to visit the hotel again or highly recomment it to friends. The only thing I would change is the length of time we stayed there!! Going on previous reviews we asked for a room away from the bar with a river view and I must say that was exactly what we got - and the rooms were very spacious and comfortable, We opted for the dinner, bed and breakfast package which we found to be excellent value, there was a great choice on the evening menu and we tucked into the hearty breakfast the following morning while taking in the views of the river with all the boating activities taking place. “Having stayed here previously, our expectations were high. It is fair to say that the views/rooms are lovely and for the price, it was reasonable. The breakfast is good, with both quality and quantity, if the hotel could bring that to their evening menu they could be on to a winner, but their dinner menu is very dissapointing, with poor food and portions in favour of children rather than adults. Having also had an evening meal at another hotel in the city, which was excellent, this hotel should realise that with the current financial situation, people will go out for better value and better food quality. The staff were lovely in general, but their were problems. We had asked for late check out on arrival and this was agreed but on the day of departure, we were called by the reception to remind us we were" late" checking out and we had to remind them of our agreement. Then the lady cleaning the rooms, banging on the door asking us when we were leaving as it was her last room and she wanted to go home. Never had this in any hotel we have ever stayed in and it put a disapointing end to our break, even though the manager apologised, it should not have happened and management and staff need to communicate with each other to avoid this in future. Will we stay again?, I don't know, with so many other hotels in the city, probably not.”

“I have been to this hotel several times and have been happy with the overall experience. One of the things I particularly like is the lock up car park. however this time I found notices up telling me to park in the enclosed car park before booking in. On my arrival it was pouring with rain. There are sever parking bays at the rear of the hotel marked Hotel. In view of the weather and the fact that at 73 years of age I did not relish the thought of dragging our cases from the underground car park, i did in fact park in one of these spaces. I raised the matter with reception and was told the hotel only had two disabled bays at the rear of the hotel and that I was likely to be clamped in the other bays. This seemed to be in keeping with the notice I had seen outside and the one attached to the reception desk. It did seem to me if this information was correct that the marking of hotel on the bays should have been removed. The following day I went back to reception and asked them to verify that if I parked in the bays marked hotel I was in danger of being clamped. This time I was informed that the bays marked hotel could be used by the hotel guests. i still hold the opinion that the hotel is comfortable and good value for money which is the reason have returned so often. That said I think the question of the use of the car park should be made clear to patrons. Getting two opposing versions of the situation does not make for a happy guest. I would also like to suggest in this day and age where most people carry valuable electronic items such as lap tops it would be nice to have a room safe as is usual with most hotels these days. I would be interested to know the managements version of the car park situation.”

“On arrival, the check in was courtious and fast. The hotel itself boasts stunning views over the River Suir, and even though the main shopping area is a short stroll away you have the "get away from it all" feeling. Staff were very friendly and professional. Ordered breakfast to the room for the three mornings there and was delivered on time twice but had to phone on the third occasion, but then it was delivered speedily. We ate only once in hotel bar and had the "special of the day". It was a very small portion of food and to be honest I would not recommend it if you were hungry. A few extra scoops of mash would have made a difference, but this would be the only fault I would have. Rooms were bright with lovely views and cleaned each day without fail. If you want a late checkout on day of departure, do ask in plenty of time or when booking as this was not possible on departure for us. Overall I would definately stay again, well done Waterford Marina.”

Within walking distance to the main areas, car needed for exploring further a field (Tramore, Dunmore, Passage East, etc), secure parking in their underground guest only car park. Nice setting along by the river Suir, this area has been renovated quite well. Breakfast was great each morning, good selection of cereals, breads, fruit and juice from the buffet and then a nice selection of cooked food, no complaints from my gang who filled up each morning. Bar food was fine but lacked variety and a little more imagination could go into the kids menu, but I'm sure keeping it simple works from a cost perspective, no issue with the quality. Would be great if it had a pool for the kids or an arrangement with one of the nearby facilities. Would recommend for a short city break, well done to the management and staff proving that good value and service can be accomplished in a city center location.”

“The food in the restaurant was pretty basic fare - but was entirely edible. They messed up my starter (deep fried brie should be harder to get wrong than right) as it was uncooked and when it came back out it was only slightly more cooked. Main course was chicken which was perfectly tasty. Desert was a selection of treats which looked tastier than they actually were but they were still nice and at the price it's not like you'd complain too much. The breakfast was pretty bland but it was at least substantial. The room we got was absolutely huge jutting out into the harbour with windows on 3 walls and a great view. A reasonably priced hotel in a nice location and is only let down by the food. If I could get the same room again, I'd definitely stay here but forego the food.”

The breakfast is lovely with a great choice of food and after breakfast the children were given bread and toast that was left over to go outside and feed the swans, which the kids love to do. “I stayed in Waterford Marina Hotel for 1 night in January with a group of girlfriends. The hotel's location is great, just 5 minutes away from the city centre. Check-in was efficient and friendly, and the rooms were spacious, clean and bright. We booked twin rooms and each contained a double and a single bed. Unfortunately one of the girls found a hair in her single bed and a hole in the sheet. We didn't eat dinner in the hotel so I can't comment on this. We found the receptionist to be really helpful when we phoned reception to inquire into where we should eat and socialise in the area. Breakfast the following morning was tasty, with plenty of variety at the buffet. On checking out we were allowed to leave our luggage in a secure room in the hotel until later in the afternoon when we collected it. All in all this is a great 3 star hotel!”

Bar area and entertainment were quite enjoyable. My only criticism is the layout of breakfast counters.. While queing for your hot Irish breakfast you are blocking the counter where diners need to access cereals, fruit and bread. There is ample room to have the hot and cold counters in seperate areas.. Duvet was too heavy and barely fitted the bed. The bathroom also could do with a revamp. Having said that, I would stay here again for the peace and quiet it afforded. “This Hotel was lovely, very clean rooms with lovely views overlooking the river, friendly staff except for one girl. Breakfast was really nice one of the best I've had from a hotel. We also ate from the bar one afternoon and the food was great and reasonabaly priced. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk into the city. It was great value to book this through lidl breaks and will definetely go on another one soon.”

Entertainment was available on both nites we stayed there. Overall all was adequate without going that extra bit to make it a memorable stay. Weather was brill for the few days we stayed. ”

“My wife and I arrived at the hotel on Sat. p.m shortly after4 o'clock. We could not gain access to a room because the room keys could not be processed at Reception until they were delivered from upstairs. We were in an hurry as we were due at a wedding reception in Dungarvan within the hour. Eventually, after a 10/15 min. wait we did get access to a room. Just a small hitch but very annoying at the time! On Sunday morning we found that the service for breakfast was a little on the slow side initiallly (perhaps due to the numbers of diners?) but this soon altered and we were looked after very well. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The in-room services were good. However, some of the bathroom fixtures could do with an uplift. The Staff were pleasant and most obliging. Pricewise, excellent value and a beautiful location. Would not hesitate to go back again! This was our second stay in this hotel. Rating - Four Star! ”

“I stayed here with my husband for one night, I would consider this as a tourist class hotel, it is convenient for sightseeing in Waterford. The hotel is very tired and in need of a complete fit out. Our room was very basic and stuffy with no air conditioning. The carpets are old and saggy. We had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant, we were surprised by the quality of the food and the staff were lovely, but the condition of the restaurant area left a lot to be desired. If your not bothered by the the tired decor its fine. but I would definitely not be returning.”

“We really enjoyed our stay in the Waterford Marina Hotel, it was real value for money. We have 3 Children and they all enjoyed their holiday. The Hotel room was very clean and spacious. There was complimentry newspapers every morning and evening from reception. The staff were really friendly and helpful, escecially with the children. After breakfast the kids were given bread to feed the swans that were on the river outside the hotel. The food was excellent and we will definately be going back next year. The hotel is right in the centre of Waterford, it only took a few minutes to walk into the town and there was a fab park right across the road from the hotel, with two fab play grounds for the kids. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of going to Waterford.”

“We had a lovely stay at the Waerford Marina Hotel. It is a lovely little hotel, tucked away in a quiet side street a few minutes walk from the city and the quays. We stayed in a family room with our two children which was very comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was really lovely with a great selection of everything. Staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough for us. There was also a park across the road from the hotel which had two fantastic play grounds for the kids. The hotel overlooked the River Suir and the staff gave the kids some bread every day to feed the swans - they had a great time! Bar food was good and the menu varied and good value. We stayed for two nights and it was great value. Only for the Lidl Breaks we would never have found this hotel. We'll definitely go back.”

“We had a great stay. We jst stayed for one night.The room was clean and a great size.It had a riversde view as requested.The breakfast was absolutely super value and great tasting! The only thing that we felt let us down slightly,was the residents bar. We arrived at about 3.01am and we could not get a late drink! apparently the bar closes at 3.00am.This is totally understandable but nobody had let us know in advance.A warning at check-in would suffice. Staff were all friendly and nice.An enjoyable stay overall. And great value for money.Thankyou Lidal Breaks. Cheers. ”

“I can not fault this hotel in any way. The staff are very friendly and helpfull, the rooms are spotless clean and the food was lovely. It is about 5 minutes walk into the city center and there is a phone available at reception (free of charge) to book taxis.. I would def recommend this hotel for a city break. its basic but lovely. ”

We ate in the bar on the evening we arrived, we could choos from the bar or A La Carte menu, thruthfully there was not much of a choice on either. The food was very poor and tasteless. The steak was very dry and fatty, it seemed to have been cooked most of the day and then reheated. The breakfast next morning was very nice. Would be a great hotel if they can improve on the bar/A La Carte foods. ”
